About this course
The course focuses on Learn LMS navigation: features; modules, messaging, and module activities, quizzes and forums. Develop an e-portfolio and manage user settings, email and password changes. Address foundational theories for designing online courses: Bloom’s Taxonomy, constructivism, connectionism, realism, UDL, and TPACK. Formulating learning outcomes, constructive alignment, creating activities and assessments, and integrating AI. Online facilitation; learner support, constructive feedback, and facilitating synchronous and asynchronous sessions using case studies. Explores authentic assessment; emphasizing real-world applications; summative, formative, and GRASP models; open-book exams. Tools of Assessment; quizzes, rubrics, e-portfolios, peer assessments, question banks, gradebook setting, computer-based assessments, and online exam setting and marking. Learner support; intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Preparations for the new cohorts; cleaning asynchronous learning spaces.
Curriculum
In this module, you will be introduced to the basics of navigating online learning platforms. You will explore how to access content, engage with course tools, manage your profile, and use online communication tools effectively to prepare for a smooth learning experience.
This module focuses on the principles of designing effective online courses. You will learn how to align learning objectives with content, select appropriate instructional strategies, and structure online modules for maximum engagement and learner comprehension.
In this module, you will explore techniques for facilitating online learning. This includes managing discussions, encouraging participation, creating an inclusive online learning environment, and using digital tools to support and engage learners.
This module covers assessment in the online learning environment. You will explore both formative and summative assessment methods, online tools for quizzes and assignments, as well as strategies for providing timely and meaningful feedback.
In this module, you will examine best practices in providing learner support in digital environments. Topics include academic support, technical assistance, motivation strategies, and inclusive practices for supporting diverse learners online.
This final module guides you through the preparations for launching new learner cohorts. You will explore planning and scheduling strategies, cohort onboarding processes, communication planning, and tools to ensure a smooth start to learning for all participants.
Upon successful completion of all modules, you will receive a certificate recognizing your participation in this course and your readiness to support digital learning in your organization or community.
